Frequently asked questions
Do I need an insurance license to apply?
No. You can start the conversation before you are licensed. You will need Property & Casualty and Life licenses before full appointment as an agency owner, and our district team can point you to the licensing process.
Is this a franchise? Are there fees?
No. Farmers agency owners are independent business owners, and there are no franchise or royalty fees paid to Farmers. You will need personal capital to open and run your office, and the amount depends on the program you enter.
Is this a salaried job?
Agency ownership is a business opportunity, not a salaried position. Your income comes from building and serving your book of business. Some entry paths let you work for an existing agency owner first while you learn.
I already work at another insurance company. Can I switch?
Yes. Many of our agency owners come from other carriers. Your Illinois licenses, sales experience, and community relationships give you a head start, and we can talk through how a transition works.
Where in Illinois are you recruiting?
We are focused on the Illinois Metro East, including St. Clair, Madison, and Monroe counties, with towns like Belleville, O'Fallon, Edwardsville, and Collinsville. Reach out even if your town is not listed.
